This course examines issues in international finance, with a particular emphasis on emerging market economies. After a review of the basics of exchange rate markets, the course introduces the students to the unique factors in emerging economies, including political risk, volatile capital flows, currency and debt crises, market inefficiencies, and institutional weaknesses. It then equips students to analyze the foreign exchange, debt and equity markets of emerging markets. It finishes with an analysis of hedging strategies and capital budgeting as applied to emerging market countries.
