This Global Immersion course provides students with knowledge, insights, and experiences with respect to Israel. The course's in-class meetings and business meetings will cover such topics as Israel's leadership, economics, business innovation, geography, and culture. Students will gain an understanding of Israel's unique circumstances and achievements, ethnic and religious diversity, challenges, and opportunities. Students will learn through the combination of academic learnings, class presenters, visits with government and business leaders, and on-the-ground experiences with Israeli businesses, cultural and historical sites. This class will meet in the spring A term for 3 hours weekly. It will likely include a half day visit Friday visit to the Israeli consulate in New York and a three-day visit to Washington, DC March 4-6, 2024. Please note this is an exam week and as such only second year students may enroll. Much about this course is still influx given the pivot being made with the course. Please join this course if you are comfortable with flexibility. Global Immersion Program classes bridge classroom lessons and business practices in another country. For this class, this will include a mix of classes in NY, meetings in NY and meetings in Washington, DC. This class will have a program fee, but the exact number hasn’t been determined; the amount will be confirmed while students still have time to drop the course. Attendance both in the classroom, at the business meetings and regular participation are a crucial part of the learning experience and as such attendance is mandatory. Unexcused absences are highly frowned upon and will have negative consequences on class grade, and students who have expected conflicts should not apply for this course. Students who miss the first class meeting may be removed from the course. No program fee refunds will be given after the add/drop period has closed.
