Having quantitative technical skills alone is not enough to solve complex problems and add value to organizations. To succeed in business, you also need to understand how to define a problem the right way, develop laser-focused hypotheses, generate strategic insight from data, build robust recommendations and know how to influence and convince CEOs.
Based on key models and frameworks used by top management consultants, this course will provide you through a combination of lectures, class exercises, marketing cases discussions and real life marketing examples, with a problem solving toolkit to better understand, diagnose, solve, recommend and implement top strategic & marketing corporate decisions.
The course is organized around the phases of a typical strategy/marketing engagement: problem definition, problem structuring, data gathering & analysis, recommendations development and finally implementation. Students will get to learn and practice specific consulting tools and principles associated with each of these phases, such as issue trees, MECE, hypothesis-driven problem-solving, interview guides, robust recommendations, etc. The course will also briefly cover key techniques for project management and skills for successful client management as well as the importance of building capabilities in corporations.
The course´s ultimate objective is to harness the power of your data analytical skills with a disciplined, structured and methodical problem-solving approach to consistently help you and your clients succeed.
